Good to know

Questions before takeoff.

Carrier, vet visit, connections, delays, handoff and payment — answered in one place.

Carrier & packing

Will you provide the airline-approved carrier, or should we?+

I provide it. Every pet flying in cabin gets a brand-new, airline-approved soft carrier that fits under the seat — and it goes home with your pet. You do not need to buy one.

What carrier size does the airline (e.g. Frontier) require?+

Each airline sets its own under-seat limit, and Frontier's is one of the smaller ones. Because I supply the carrier, I choose one that meets the specific airline on your itinerary — nothing for you to measure.

Should we send food and water?+

Please send enough of your pet's food in a secure, resealable bag with written feeding instructions (how much and how often). I provide water, pee pads, and the carrier. No paper or plastic grocery bags, please.

Can we send toys, a blanket, or items for the new owner?+

A small blanket that smells like home is welcome. Items for the new owner must fit in one small, TSA-approved bag (think small backpack). Anything besides food or a small blanket needs my approval first.

Health & the vet visit

What should we have the vet do before the flight?+

Ask your vet for: (1) a health certificate (often called a CVI) dated no more than 10 days before the delivery date — recommended for domestic travel; (2) up-to-date vaccination records, which are an acceptable substitute if you don't get the health certificate; and (3) a note of the pet's current weight. Confirm the pet will be at least 8 weeks old and 20 lb or less on travel day.

Do you require a fecal/stool test or parasite screening?+

It is not required by me for domestic travel, but many families ask the vet to deworm and check a stool sample at the same visit so the puppy arrives healthy. Anything the vet does should be written into the health certificate or vaccine record.

Is a rabies vaccine required?+

A current rabies certificate is mandatory for any pet being brought into the USA from another country. For domestic flights with young puppies, follow your vet's schedule and include the vaccine record.

What paperwork do you need at pickup?+

The health certificate or vaccination records (either must travel with the pet), plus the feeding instructions. I bring everything to the handoff so the new owner receives the records with the pet.

Travel day

Will my pet stay with you the entire journey?+

Yes. Your pet stays with me from pickup to handoff — in the airport, on the plane under the seat in front of me, and during any connection. Never cargo, never passed to someone else.

Will you personally be on both flights?+

Yes. Nanny Cheri personally flies every leg, including connections (for example through Denver).

Is the seat confirmed?+

Yes. I purchase a confirmed airline ticket — never standby.

Will I get updates?+

Yes. Starting 2 days before the trip, the breeder, the buyer, and I are in one three-way group text. You'll get photos and updates at pickup, the gate, the connection, and landing.

Connections, delays & cancellations

What happens during a connection?+

During the layover your pet gets time to rest, drink water, and use a pee pad or the airport's pet relief area before the next flight.

What if there's a delay, cancellation, or missed connection?+

Your pet stays with me the whole time. I rebook on the next available flight, and I update everyone right away in the group text with the new arrival time. If an overnight is needed, your pet stays in my care. Airline delays, weather, and acts of God are the only things that change a confirmed itinerary.

What if we need to change the date or route?+

Changes after the initial quote have a $50 research fee per change to cover new flight searches.

What is your cancellation policy?+

The $100 deposit is nonrefundable. Canceling a scheduled delivery forfeits the transport cost, though funds may be applied to a future transport within 30 days. See the Terms for the full policy.

Handoff & payment

Where does the new owner meet you at DFW (or any airport)?+

We meet outside security, usually at the arrival baggage claim for the airline. The exact door or carousel number is confirmed in the group text on travel day.

How does payment work?+

A $100 nonrefundable deposit reserves the date. The remaining balance is due in cash, Venmo, or Cash App before pickup. SkyPups does not handle money between the breeder and buyer.

The buyer is paying the breeder at drop-off — can you hold the puppy until then?+

Payments between breeder and buyer are between you two, but all parties confirm pickup, drop-off, and payment by text in the group chat. I release the pet once everyone confirms in the group text.

What if someone is late for pickup or handoff?+

After 15 minutes, a $50 late fee applies, plus $50 for every 30 minutes after that.
